Microdosing the 13 dot technique Are you following the new skincare trend

It is worth remembering this slogan: microdosing, i.e. better less than more, is a new trend in skin care. Its creators argue that care in almost homeopathic doses will provide better results than applying solid portions of the cosmetic to the face or body. Why? And what is the 13 dot technique?

Microdosing is not a new term, but the term is known from a completely different field: it is the practice of taking small, much lower than standard doses of psychoactive substances to stimulate the body to act without experiencing hallucinations or other effects of use. such substances.

What does skincare have to do? Well, many experts have noticed that the condition of the skin deteriorates significantly under the influence of cosmetics, used in standard amounts or even in excess. And they came to the conclusion that the skin can in some cases be harmed by simple portions of cosmetics, while microdosing, that is care in a very limited amount, can help it: giving up some cosmetics and using others in smaller doses than before. Why? Exposure of the skin to many different care substances, used in make-up removers, toners and creams, increases the risk of developing imperfections, such as blackheads, and also increases the risk of hypersensitivity, such as irritation, redness, and roughness. Aesthetic medicine expert Dr. Parisha Acharya explained in an interview with British Glamor: “Using too many products worsens the skin condition, leading to inflammation, redness, clogged pores, blemishes, itching, burning and even peeling of the skin. If you do this for a long time, the inflammation can become permanent and the barrier function will be permanently disrupted, making the skin overactive. ' The recipe is microdosing, i.e. limiting the cosmetics used every day and using them in a smaller, even microscopic amount. One of the best-known microdosing techniques is the 13 dots technique developed by the popular British dermatologist Sam Bunting. It is not difficult: the technique is to use your fingertips to apply very small amounts of serum or cream to specific spots: three dots on the forehead, three more dots on both cheekbones, two on the chin and one on both sides of the nose. This technique ensures that we have not applied too much preparation anywhere on the face, which after applying it is enough to gently spread it and then gently pat it into the skin.
