Acne skin care - what is the best way to wash your face?

Even after puberty, everyone likes to come up with a surprise every now and then, and many adults still struggle with acne. How can you fight it? Check what to clean acne skin, what ingredients should be included in effective acne cosmetics, and how to properly stimulate blood circulation, cleanse and oxygenate the skin.

Where does acne come from and how to treat it?

The main causes of acne are inflammation of the sebaceous glands and hair follicles. Unaesthetic pimples and blackheads affect not only your appearance, but also your well-being and contacts with others.

To end acne forever, start by visiting a dermatologist to check your skin. If the problem is severe, your doctor may suggest one of the following treatments:

  • antibiotic therapy - applied systemically or topically
  • hormonal treatment - for people for whom antibiotic therapy is unsuccessful or inadvisable
  • If the disease is mild or you have already finished dermatological treatment, do not forget about daily skin care. Reach for acne dermocosmetics intended for this type of skin.

Acne: cosmetics - essential ingredients and their action, in lighter forms of acne, home care is sometimes enough.

Before choosing the right acne skin care products, check if they contain the ingredients listed below and:

  • have antibacterial properties and inhibit inflammation (e.g. sulfur, black mud, tea tree oil),
  • reduce the amount of free fatty acids and inhibit seborrhea (e.g. sulfur, tea tree oil),
  • restore the skin's proper pH,
  • astringent (e.g. zinc, tricolor violet, black mud),
  • soothe (e.g. tricolor violet),
  • moisturize.

If your skin is very contaminated, cosmetic treatments can also be an effective support for the therapy.

Acne skin care - effective cosmetics for acne

Step one - what to wash your face with?

Acne skin care

The first step is to thoroughly cleanse your face. Use e.g. sulfur soap (Sulfur color), which has antibacterial and highly astringent properties, or an emulsion containing tea tree oil (e.g. Acnex emulsion). You can also add a few drops of the oil to your favorite face cleanser to enrich its formula.

Antibacterial gels or lotions dedicated to acne skin can be equally effective.

Cosmetics worth trying are, for example, SVR SebiaClear washing gel, VICHY Normaderm or Dermedic Normacne Preventi. After washing your face, dry it with a paper towel or cotton pad.

Do not use the same cotton towel that you use for bathing to wipe your mouth. This way you will avoid any possible transfer of bacteria.

You can also combine washing your face with a peeling. Before you decide on a specific product, pay attention to its description. It should be intended for oily and acne-prone skin. It is supposed to exfoliate, unblock pores and normalize the work of sebaceous glands (e.g. peelings from the Iwostin line: Iwostin Perfectin purritin).

Step two - acne tonic

Additionally, after cleansing your face with a gel or soap, wash it with a lotion or tonic (eg Aknicare treatment lotion). Look for products with ingredients with the above-described action.

Step three - acne cream

The last step to complete the care is applying the cream. A friend, who has tested many acne skin products, highly recommends the Cetaphil DermaControl moisturizing and matting cream. Its additional advantage is the UV filter (SPF30).

An important component of acne cosmetics is salicylic acid. It is also used in chemical peeling. Not only does it support exfoliation of the epidermis, it also has antibacterial and slightly astringent properties (you can find it, for example, in the Vichy Normaderm cream for acne skin).

Once you've noticed that your skin is clearly exposed to acne scarring and the inflammation is extremely severe, you can try Uriage Hyseac Al cream. It has anti-inflammatory properties, and its additional advantage is its light consistency, thanks to which it is well absorbed.

Other noteworthy acne creams (with a milder effect) are 4AKNE or Acnefan. The latter contains the previously mentioned tea tree oil. The main active ingredients of 4AKNE cream are vitamins. Both creams are intended for regular, daily use.

Beauty treatments for acne

When treating acne in the office, the following treatments are successfully used: microdermabrasion, cavitation peeling, chemical peels, darsonvalization (massage with a glass electrode, which leads to the release of ozone), laser therapy, phototherapy and ionopheresis (with electricity, drug ions are introduced into the tissues).

Each treatment helps to reduce acne lesions, e.g. by regulating the secretion of sebum, shrinking the pores, stimulating exfoliation of dead skin and stimulating skin regeneration.
